Which New York?

I was playing around with my new iPhone 3G this morning and decided to test out an app called "People," which will searches for address and phone information. It seems to draw its information from http://www.whitepages.com. So I plugged my name in, typed in "New York" and got a screen asking me which New York I wanted: "New York, IA," New York, NY," or "New York, TX."

Who knew?

New York, TX has its own Wikipedia page, as well as an entry in the Handbook of Texas Online. Apparently, the town, which can be found in Henderson County eleven miles east of Athens, TX, on Farm roads 604 and 607 was originally settled around 1856 in a slightly different location. The current location was settled in 1873. There are two stories about how the town go its name: it was either named by T. B. Herndon as a joke or by Reynolds in the hope of great things to come. According to the 2000 census, the town's population was fifteen.

Information about New York, IA is more elusive. It doesn't have a Wikipedia age, but you can find out some information about it via the Iowa Hometown Locator online, where it's listed as is a community or populated place (Class Code U6) located in Wayne County at latitude 40.852 and longitude -93.26. Its elevation is 1,056 feet, and you can find it on on County Highway J22, about 68 miles south of Des Moines.
