Moby-Dick Big Read, Day 86

Over at patell dot org, I explore the link between the text of this chapter, Ishmael’s paean to “The Tail” of the whale, and the rather liberally adapted 1930 film version starring  John Barrymore. Things that are not in the novel that are in the film: characters named “Derek” and “Faith,” a dog, and a textual reference to a poodle.

Something really important that is in the novel but isn’t in the film? Oh, click over to find out.

“The Tail” is read by naturalist Dennis Minsky. The illustration, Fluke (2012), is by Jo Hay.
