You’ve been hearing a lot about Moby-Dick from “P” lately, but now it’s time for some words of wisdom from “W.”
Take a look at Bryan’s post “Top 5 bits of advice for first-time readers of Moby-Dick,” over at greatwhatsit.com.
My favorite, of course, is #4, in which Bryan describes Moby-Dick as “a global text.”
Which is precisely what my colleague Shamoon Zamir and I will be arguing in our course on the novel this spring at NYU Abu Dhabi.
The course is called, well, “Global Text: Moby-Dick.”
A not so subtle nod to your course, I admit. But I’d already given you one big shout out in the post!
Can you say, “Guest Lecture”?
